Driveway Excavation, Reclaimed Paving & Garden Clearance in Sutton Coldfield

This project involved removing an old driveway and garden materials before carrying out excavation, site clearance, levelling works, and preparation for a newly paved driveway using a mixture of reclaimed and replacement block paving.

The Situation

The customer’s existing driveway and front garden area had become uneven, dated, and difficult to maintain. Old concrete, damaged slabs, overgrown shrubs, and excess vegetation were taking up usable space and affecting the overall appearance of the property.

The client wanted a cleaner, more practical driveway layout while also making use of existing brick pavers where possible to reduce waste and retain some of the original character of the property.

The project took place at a residential property in Sutton Coldfield.

The Challenge

  • Breaking out and removing old concrete and paving slabs
  • Clearing overgrown shrubs and garden waste
  • Sorting and salvaging reusable brick pavers
  • Levelling uneven ground across the driveway and garden areas
  • Preparing a clean, stable base for the new driveway surface
  • Keeping the site tidy and organised throughout the works

The job required careful excavation and material handling to ensure reusable paving could be retained while still achieving a clean and level finish across the whole area.

Our Approach

We began by bringing machinery onto site and carefully breaking out the existing concrete driveway and old slabbed areas.

All waste materials and overgrown shrubs were removed from the garden area, opening up the space and allowing the ground to be properly levelled and reshaped.

Usable brick pavers from the original driveway were then sorted and retained for reuse within the new driveway installation, helping reduce unnecessary waste while maintaining a consistent finish.

The driveway area was excavated and prepared before levelling works were completed across both the driveway and garden sections. The ground was then compacted and prepared ready for the new paving installation.

Throughout the project, materials were organised efficiently and the site was kept tidy to minimise disruption to the homeowner.

The Result

  • Old driveway and slabs fully removed
  • Overgrown garden area cleared and opened up
  • Reclaimed brick pavers reused within the project
  • Ground levelled and prepared correctly
  • Clean and stable base formed for paving works
  • Property left tidy and significantly improved visually

The Outcome

The completed works transformed the front exterior of the property, creating a cleaner, more usable space ready for a refreshed driveway finish. By reclaiming and reusing existing brick pavers where possible, the project also reduced waste while maintaining a practical and cost effective approach for the client.
